AIDS Awareness Program

AIDS isn’t in the news every day any more. That makes it that much more important for people to spread the word about the impact that this deadly disease can have on a community. The Rotary Club of Pelham does its part each year by hosting a meeting dedicated to learning about AIDS and what impact it can have at our local level.

This year’s meeting was highlighted by our speaker Herbert Perry who is a health education consultant with the Georgia Department of Community Health. His emphasis was on the importance of education in our community. He said that the only real cure for AIDS was prevention and that education was the key to achieving that goal. Our members left the meeting with a renewed sense of what it takes to stop the spread of AIDS in our community and are now better prepared to help educate others about how to keep this plague from harming our community.
