K. D. Palmer Memorial Fishing Rodeo

For years, Pelham Rotarian K. D. Palmer headed this project which is a fishing rodeo for youn
g kids. Upon his passing, the event was named in his honor. This project benefits the community in a couple of very important ways. First, the Pelham Rotarians volunteer their time to clean up the banks of a pond t
o make access to the water easy and safe. Second, this project provides an opportunity each year for children to have an opportunity to fish in a safe environment. This is the only opportunity that some of the children in the community have to go fishing and it is always a big hit. Prizes are given out for the biggest fish and the most fish. In 2009 there were approximately 60 children laden down with fish bait, fishing poles, bug repellant, chairs, and various other objects at the event. There were numerous parents, grandparents, guardians, and Rotarians on hand for the fun and excitement of watching fish being caught. It’s always fun to watch a little kid catch a big fish!
